We Will Cut The Budget!

April 11, 2011

Late Friday night both sides of the political spectrum agreed to a resolution that would keep our government operating without fear of a shut down.  Both sides emphasized “We will cut the budget.” to gain support from their base.

The problem is the cuts do not go deep enough to reduce the massive debt our nation carries currently.  These cuts are a mere 36 billion dollars. Not much of a cut with the national debt looming at 14.3 trillion dollars. With these cuts Congress actually just stopped borrowing money for 9 days, that’s all.

Our nation currently borrows 4 billion dollars a day to keep this country afloat. China, Japan, and a host of other investors buy up our treasury notes put on the market daily for our government to continue to spend money on projects that we don’t have.

How can a nation sustain sovereignty if it continually spends more than it takes in? The bottom line is it can’t. How can a nation tell its citizens spending 5 trillion dollars a year is good for the economy and the nation with a straight face? Economics 101 tells us you can not borrow money to spend your way out of debt, it is impossible.

In order to return our country to fiscal sanity we must as a nation pay down our debt. Our elected officials must start working on solutions to the spending habits in the Halls of Congress instead of continuing to spend what they do not have. We need leadership in Washington, those who will make the tough choices regardless of how it will affect their re-election campaigns.

My Way Or The Highway!

April 7, 2011

That’s right “My Way Or The Highway” is the new slogan coming from the Democrats while discussing the eminent shut down of our government because both sides are digging their heels in with what they want from the budget with no room for negotiations.

On the floor in the Senate Bill Nelson a Democrat from Florida brought up  this new slogan while asking to have both sides work together to come to some sort of agreement or understanding so the astronauts will continue to prepare for missions and traffic controllers will be there for flights.

Mr. Nelson while spewing out the coined phrase “My Way Or The Highway” went on to state “You don’t govern from the political extremes.  We’ve had it from the left spectrum in the past but this is their way or no way. We can’t come together to agree to a solution.”  We agree with this statement from the Senator from Florida, we need to pass a budget that is good for the country without pork or waste hiding between the lines in each page as is in the Health Care bill recently passed with a super majority in the Senate.

Let’s look at this health care program passed without Republican support.  Speaker Pelosi stated “We have to pass the bill to see what is in it.”  Senator Reid held meetings with his Democratic cronies behind closed doors with the President.  When the President finally met with both sides to discuss the bill he made the statement “I won” to Representative Paul Ryan while Ryan was discussing what the Republicans wanted to see in the bill.

What we have seen over the past 50 years is partisan politics. NO one in the political arena will make the tough choices that need to be made. Only a few individuals in Congress will cross party lines to vote on resolutions because they believe in the content. Why you ask, that is easy to answer.  Those elected to represent the will of the people want to get re-elected so they can continue to vote for the items special interest, lobbyists, and union officials what to see passed.  They do not want to be a one term representative because they do not receive those million dollar retirement benefits until they have been established as Federal employees for a few terms. The 172 thousand dollar a year salaries they receive incentivize them to continue to campaign for office along with all those other perks that set them up for life.

The time has come for those elected to fight for what is right for our country and our citizens regardless of their re-election hopes.  We as a nation can not continue to spend more than we take in.  For all the money our government spends we have to borrow 43% of those funds.   We must stop the insanity in the Halls of Congress.  If it means one term for those in office, so be it.  Let’s get it right before the America the past few generations have come to know and love disappears with  a new form of government coming in taking hold, forever changing the landscape of a once great nation.

3.7 Trillion Budget

February 15, 2011

Today the President released his 2012 budget an amazing 3.7 trillion dollars. During his state of the Union speech he stated he understood the country had a spending problem and in the words of Representative Frank Guinta, ‘This may be Valentine’s Day, but the $3.73T #budget proposal by #POTUS is no love letter to the American people!”

We are in a severe recession and still the President can not understand you can not spend more of what you don’t have to bring about prosperity to a nation. He has proposed an increase in taxation over the next ten years to raise an additional 1.6 trillion dollars over the next 10 years. CNN stated the President has two choices that will address the problems we face, “He can fix it or ignore it” In the piece they decided he has ignored it. http://bit.ly/fHL7Mh

The budget will drop to 1.2 trillion next year but will balloon to 104% of GDP by 2015. This is not the way to stimulate an economy that is bloated and in need of reduction.  Congress has stated they will cut the budget by 100 billion, a mere 2% of the budget when we need to look at cuts across the board by no less than 500 billion each and every year until we contain the uncontrolled spending that has eroded the quality of life for all Americans.

The CBO estimates there is 10% fraud and waste in every government program which is not being address as of yet on the Hill. Every member knows about the problem but no solutions are being presented to reel in the corruption.  Patriot Express Radio  has offered a solution that would help alleviate the problem.  Quite simple pass a law that makes it a mandatory 10 year prison sentence for any individual or corporation that commits acts of fraud when dealing with any government agency.  If an individual knows when they decide to steal our tax dollars by submitting fraudulent bills will land them in jail for 10 years many of those individuals would not attempt these deceitful practices.

Second, we must hold those accountable in Congress when appropriating funds. The funding must have a paper trail just as businesses have to track where the money is going and how it is being spent. The funds must not be sent out in bulk but released in segments to the receiving parties. When the parties show how the funds released to them were spent then they receive the next allocation until all criteria has been met.

We the People are tired of our tax dollars being wasted and are now monitoring how our government is spending them.  The Congress have to fulfill their promises made on the campaign trail to reduce the nation debt and the size of the Federal Government. They must understand trillion-dollar deficits are no longer going to be tolerated here in America. So get out the pencils and start cutting to save our nation and give future generations of children a country they can be proud to be a citizen of that is working to be fiscally responsible from here on in.

Compromise Would Surely Help The Situation!

December 9, 2010

Here we go again, those folks in DC. are at it again.  President Obama extends tax cuts for 2 years because Republicans were holding the American people hostage.   His words not mine, hostage.  I applaud the fact he extended the infamous olive branch to work on a deal that will keep the government functioning through the lame duck session.

However, it appears as if the ultra liberals are furious with his decision. All day on the news they bashed him  as too weak,  no backbone, caving in to the rich, and not the President we elected that was going to raise taxes on the rich.  He has divided his base once again and why?  He made concessions to try to do the right thing.

As we have stated numerously on the Patriot Express Radio show “we don’t need more taxes, we need less spending.” ” We need a government that will work to cut the fraud and waste in every entity of our bureaucracies across the nation.”  Stop the waste and we reign in the uncontrolled deficit spending.

I was talking to a retired military pilot today who said he once believed in the balanced budget amendment but now he is against it. He wants to have the military a separate budget so they get the funding they need without cuts that will weaken our defense.  I asked him how long he served for a barometer of the depth of knowledge he had on military spending.

He was a fighter pilot for 23 years. I asked if he saw any fraud or waste in his 23 years there?  He stated he saw the 500 dollar hammers and the waste. As a matter of fact he stated “I was told to take my jet out for a four-hour flight anywhere with a tanker following me on several occasion. ”

I stated I have friends that were in Viet Nam where every month new supplies would be flown in only to be placed in the middle of a field to be blown away by a few explosives from the tanks on base. This happened and is still happening today so the military doesn’t loss their budget.

The conversation went on and I explained on paper that approach looked good but the problem is the military has to spend the funds appropriated each budget or they lose it the next time around. We need to make sure the budget is never cut even when a surplus exists at the end of the fiscal year.  The military protects our borders and we need the strongest and the best with no compromising on their needs.

The issue isn’t increasing our taxes to pay for things our Representatives want, the issue is to cut the fraud and waste so we spend our tax dollars wisely as a CEO of any business would or should be doing to spend what they need and ultimately make a profit.  Our Congress spends the money then taxes the individuals and Corporations without having strict guidelines or rules on how to spend the money more efficiently.

We can balance the budget without raising taxes if the American Citizens would go to the polls and vote for individuals that will represent their wishes and not those of special interest. Remember your vote counts each election.  By not voting you’re allowing those in power to remain in power. We can do better.
